Your Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. In this position, you will mainly work within the research project funded by Formas, Fair Water: Collaboration for Fair Water Management in Watersheds - Stress Testing Drought and High Flows for Sustainable and Multifunctional Use of Water, focusing on exploring and analyzing conditions for governance, with an emphasis on synergies, goal conflicts, good examples, and possible pathways to promote fair and coherent water management in Sweden. Your tasks within the project will include conducting a stakeholder mapping, identifying good examples through document analysis, surveys, and interviews. As a postdoctoral researcher, you are expected to conduct independent research according to the guidelines of Theme M, generate, interpret, and analyze data, develop a template for analyzing governance challenges, formulate policy recommendations, and write two scientific articles. Additionally, you will contribute to other work packages of the research project.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will primarily conduct research. Teaching may also be included in your responsibilities, but to a maximum of one-fifth of your working hours.
Your Qualifications
To be eligible for the position of postdoctoral researcher, you must have a doctoral degree or a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. Your degree must be obtained by the time the employment decision is made.
It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, a candidate who obtained their doctoral degree earlier may be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.
For this position, particular emphasis will be placed on scientific competence first, and pedagogical competence second.
Regarding Scientific Competence, the following will be assessed:
- The requirement for employment is documented competence in social science or humanities environmental, sustainability, and climate research.
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence in research exploring governance, management, and administration, for example, regarding goal conflicts and synergies.
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence in research that empirically builds on qualitative document and interview studies.
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence in methods involving research-based collaboration, for example, in the form of living labs.
- Meritorious is documented competence in interdisciplinary research.
Regarding Pedagogical Competence, the following will be assessed:
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence from teaching in social science and/or humanities environmental, sustainability, and climate research.
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence from teaching in social science environmental studies, political science, environmental governance, and management or related fields.
- Particularly meritorious is documented competence in problem-based learning or similar pedagogical approaches.
As teaching and research are conducted in Swedish, you must demonstrate the ability to teach and conduct research in Swedish from the start of the employment.
Your Workplace
You will work at Theme Environmental Change (Theme M). At Theme M, problem-oriented interdisciplinary research and teaching are conducted on the interplay between current environmental and societal challenges. The department conducts doctoral education and undergraduate education with an environmental science and physical geography focus. Within the undergraduate education, three bachelor's programs and one master's program are offered, along with independent and teacher education courses in environmental science and thematic natural science. Theme Environmental Change also hosts the Center for Climate Policy Research, which is an interdisciplinary research environment focusing on, among other things, transition, vulnerability and adaptation, climate visualization, and decision support.
About the Employment
The position is a fixed-term employment for two years with the possibility of extension for a total employment period of no more than three years. The position as a postdoctoral researcher is full-time.
Start date by agreement.
